How we met

6-2-2018

It’s a classic tale of an opera singer and an o ring branch manager falling in love... on Bumble! Corrie grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and moved to Chicago to attend graduate school at Northwestern University. After living in Chicago for 6 years, she was offered her dream job as a resident artist at Pittsburgh Opera. So she packed up and moved to Pittsburgh, sight unseen, in 2014 and the rest is history. Mike grew up in Jersey and also came to Pittsburgh for a great job opportunity in 2016. He immediately fell in love with the city, people, and beer. After striking up conversation on Bumble (technically, Corrie struck up the conversation and Mike doesn’t let her forget it), they almost never had their first date. Corrie was extremely sick with laryngitis and had no voice (not convenient for the opera singer), so she rescheduled their first date 3-4 times. Luckily for her, Mike believed that she was sick and agreed to meet up for.... what else?! Beers! Corrie knew, the moment she opened the door and saw Mike with a crowler in hand, that he was her style when he shared, “I thought about bringing flowers, but beer seemed a more logical choice.” They made their way to Brew Gentlemen and it felt like they had been hanging out and drinking beers all their lives.

Our Engagement

12-25-19

If you know Corrie, you know she's borderline obsessed with Christmas. It's her favorite time of year AND her birthday. On Christmas day 2019, Mike kept insisting Corrie would be "disappointed" with his gifts. On Christmas Eve, Mike snuck a card into Corrie's stocking and made her swear she wouldn't sneak down in the night to peak. They decided to have a quiet Christmas in the 'burgh, just the two of them and their beloved dog Millie (RIP). Corrie made her famous quiche for breakfast and kept pushing back the time for gift opening throughout the day. Finally, it was time to open presents. Each opened their respective gifts and Corrie was thrilled with Mike's choices. Then, Mike told Corrie to open the card from her stocking. Just as she was about to, he said "you should probably open the other one first." WHAT OTHER ONE??? Corrie didn't see anything else in the stocking. At the very bottom was a little wooden box. She fished it out, turned it right side up, and engraved in the box was "how about forever?" She opened the box to find the most beautiful ring and Mike on one knee in their living room. Corrie proceeded to cry and crack up laughing, all the while repeating "yes, yes, YES!!" Then, she opened the card that had a huge "YES" on the front and the inside read "isn't it amazing how one little word can be the start of something so wonderful?" Best, Birthday, Ever : )

For all the days along the way
