You will need a valid passport to enter Colombia (Must be valid for a minimum of 6 months after travel dates). Visas are not required for US citizens traveling to Colombia. Please note all immigration/customs for Colombia is online. Please use this below site to fill out your forms up to 48 hours prior to arriving in Medellin. You will need to repeat this process upon departure as well. https://apps.migracioncolombia.gov.co/pre-registro/public/preregistro.jsf

Question

Covid Guidelines

Answer

Are there COVID-related entry requirements for U.S. citizens? Yes As of May 1, 2022, visitors to Colombia ages 18 or older must provide proof of complete vaccination for entry or a negative COVID test (48 hours in advance of travel for an antigen test or 72 hours in advance of travel for a PCR test). Travelers should be prepared to show their original, physical vaccination card or digital certificate both at airline check-in and when passing through Colombian Immigration. The vaccination document must include the individual’s full name, date of vaccination, name of the vaccine administered, and the number of doses administered. A photo of one’s vaccination card may not be accepted. If you completed your vaccination scheme within 14 days before entry to Colombia you will also need to have an antigen test 48 hours prior to arrival or a PCR test 72 hours prior to arrival in Colombia.

Question

Can I use USD in Medellin?

Answer

No. Make sure to always have some Colombian pesos on you. You can exchange USD for COP at the airport or withdraw from any of the many ATMs around. You can also use your debit and credit cards.

Question

How is the weather in Medellin?

Answer

Medellin is also known as the city of Eternal Spring. In February you can expect temperatures with a high of 75 during the day and 55-65 at night. We suggest a light sweater/jacket for day & night.

Question

What is the culture like?

Answer

Colombian people are very warm and friendly. They are often smiling and are always looking for a greeting. It's important to be cordial and acknowledge the locals. Greet them and return the courtesy of a "buenos dias" (good morning) or "buenas tardes" (good evening). Some terms to keep in mind are also "gracias" (thank you), and "con gusto" (you're welcome). We would appreciate it if you did not bring up the Escobar topic. Medellin has long since moved past that terrible period of time and made strides to install peace. Most locals find this extremely distasteful and rude to discuss.

Question

What Colombian dishes should I try?

Answer

Bandeja Paisa: A plater that has a steak (or ground beef), crunchy chicharron (pork crackling), chorizo sausage, and served with rice and red beans, a fried egg, plantain, arepa, and fresh avocado. Sancocho: Another hearty soup, consists of meat, plantain, cassava, coriander, sweet corn, and potatoes. Buñuelos: Slightly larger than a golf-ball, these tasty morsels are concocted of salty flour and small curd white cheese. They are rolled into a ball then fried until golden brown. Pan de Bono: Bread made of cornflour, cassava starch, cheese, and eggs. Delicious! Arepas: An arepa is basically a type of bread made from cornmeal. There are two kinds: a bland white corn version or a sweet yellow corn version with cheese that stands on its own. Patacones: A green plantain squashed into a thick pancake, then deep-fried in oil until golden brown.

Question

Can I take pictures at the ceremony?/ Puedo tomar fotos en la ceremonia?

Answer

We are going with an “unplugged" ceremony, which means no pictures or video during the nuptials. We want our guests to be present as we say our “I do’s” and would like to see all your faces without the distraction of cell phones or cameras — let our amazing photographers work their magic. However, feel free to take all the pictures and videos you want while we party it up! Pictures and video are welcome during the cocktail hour and the reception. Vamos tener una ceremonia desconectada. Esto significa que les pedimos que todos los celulares y cameras estén apagados durante la ceremonia para que nuestra fotógrafa pueda capturar nuestro momento sin distracciones. Después de la ceremonia, pueden tomar todas las fotos que gusten.
