1998 We met even before the "cooties" phase...we were probably 3 or 4 years old. We attended the same church, Brookhaven Wesleyan, and grew up in the same Sunday school classes, Kingdom of Heaven church choir groups, and summer camps. It wasn't until our high school years when we started to attend the same school.
November 2012 Our first date was a very "classic Marion, Indiana date" (aka, there's not much else to do other than this). We had dinner at Applebee's, probably one of the nicer restaurants in Marion at the time. We also saw the horrible movie, Killing Them Softly. Brittany poorly chose that one, probably because it starred Brad Pitt. After the movie we went back to Michael's house to make brownies, and Michael was trying to stir the batter so well that he ended up spilling the mix on Brittany's jeans (she still has that pair of jeans!). Needless to say we didn't share a second date for about another month...our high school egos needed time to recover from our awkward first date!
December 22, 2017 We were spending the evening in downtown Indy for what Brittany thought was a celebration of Michael's graduation. We had dinner at Harry & Izzy's (looking back, I now realize why Michael finished his mixed drink so quickly!) and then took a walk to Monument Circle to check out the Christmas light display. Brittany was mindlessly capturing some pictures of the lights when Michael lead her towards a platform that had a large assortment of rose petals displayed in the shape of a heart (previously set up by Michael's brother, Ben, and Ben's girlfriend, Dakota). By the time Brittany realized she was standing in the center of the petals, Michael was already down on one knee! We are so thrilled to spend this next chapter of our lives with you! See you in Fairmount!
