How We Met

The Invisible String

Bridget and Michael’s story didn’t start when they met—it had been building for decades. Back in Quincy in the 70's - 80s, Bridget’s grandfather, Tom Healy, worked as a contractor and builder, often interacting with Leo Bonome, Michael’s grandfather, who handled excavation for many of his jobs. Around the same time, Michael’s grandmother Faye worked in the building inspection office, regularly interacting with Tom Healy and signing his building permits. Their families were connected long before anyone realized it. Years later, those connections kept overlapping. Michael ended up working in landscape construction for Bridget’s brother-in-law John, again putting him right in her world—just not officially in it yet. They were finally in the same place at the same time at Colleen and John’s wedding—Bridget’s sister and brother-in-law—but didn’t truly connect then. It wasn’t until a few days later that Lauren (Michael’s future sister-in-law), who knew Bridget from a local waitressing job, realized Michael had been at the wedding and gave him Bridget’s number. That’s where it actually began. An impromptu ice cream date turned into meeting each other's families within a few weeks span. They’ve now been together for almost eight years. In that time, they’ve gone through college graduation, PA school, building and renovating homes, and figuring out life as they went. They’ve built a life together on the South Shore, with their dog Buddy and their rabbit Blue. Early on, Bridget and Michael’s relationship was built around working toward the next goal—getting the best grades possible, saving money, and planning their next investment project. Vacations weren’t really part of the equation yet. After Bridget graduated PA school, they decided it was finally time to take a real break and planned their first warm-weather beach trip together. They chose St. Pete Beach, and it quickly became more than just a vacation. Since then, they’ve returned—this time getting engaged there—and it’s become a place that represents a shift in their relationship: from always working toward what’s next, to actually slowing down and enjoying where they are. Now, it only feels right that they’ll be back again to get married in a place that’s meant so much to them along the way. Looking back, it’s hard to ignore how many times their lives almost intersected before they finally did.
