Four score and eight years ago. . .

A boy stalked a girl on Facebook and tricked her into giving him her phone number. . .Ok, ok, Michael didn't stalk me or trick me, but he was very clever in how he got me to give him my number. I remember the night he added me on Facebook. I was at my house and my best friend Morgan was sleeping over. Sitting at my kitchen table for dinner, my phone pings with a notification that someone was trying to add me on Facebook. I clicked on his profile and turned to Morgan (and my mom) and said, "well this guy is cute." We had several mutual friends, so my decision to accept his request was easy. A few hours and the same ping of my phone later, a message in my inbox appeared. We talked for a bit, and the conversation ended with Michael saying, "yah should text me sometime." I didn't have this kids number! So sly that he got me to ask him for it. But who knew this would be just the beginning. Things we did: Went for Ice Cream Threw Javelin Saw a movie Fun Facts: I kissed him first Our first "song" was It Girl by Jason Derulo

"Do you remember I asked you out last night?"

I don't remember this day very much, just the important part. Michael and I had been talking for a few weeks by now and had met a few times. For some reason, I was at Kohl's and it was later in the evening. I don't remember why I was there, but I remember being in a horrible mood (don't ask me why....I was a teenage girl...you do the math). Michael texted me and finally asked me to be his girlfriend. I said yes, of course, or we wouldn't be here today. I don't think we talked much the rest of that night because the next day, I woke up to a message that read, "you remember I asked you out last night, right?" DUHHH. I remembered!!! I was so excited! God knew our hearts needed one another. <3 First few milestones: Meeting the families Michael's high school graduation Our first vacation together A Brief History of Years 1 through 5 We spent a total of 5 months together, every day, talking and hanging out, before our first time apart. Michael left for college in August of 2012 and I had to be without my other half. The night before he left for college, I remember standing on my front porch, crying my eyes out, hating that he had to leave. I gave him George (my stuffed monkey that my dad got for me) to take with him so he always had a piece of me. We would spend the next 5 years traveling between Scranton and Philadelphia. When it's something this special, the distance has nothing on you. Many a Valentine's Day and birthday was spent on a bus or a train. A few memorable moments over these years: already having a bus ticket, but buying a later ticket because I didn't want to leave, surprising me on my 21st birthday, learning how to take Septa, eating at expensive restaurants (Fogo, Davio's), and just doing everything we could to always be with each other. **Side note: When I left for college in August 2013, Mike showed up at my house with George. He said to me, "he's been through this once already, he'll know what to do." INSTANT TEARS.**

"No, no, no. I can't believe this is happening. No."

So at this point, we are grown ups. I am living in an apartment in Philly and Michael is at home. Michael was coming down to visit because on Saturday, we were going to a bar crawl in the city. It was a Friday night. Michael had told me he wasn't feeling well, so he didn't get to the apartment until almost 9pm. I had already eaten at this point, so dinner was a bust. Mike and I were in my room when he pulled out a piece of paper with a list of 21 items. He said it's a scavenger hunt. Me, being stubborn, wasn't buying it because he had only been there 20 minutes and I knew he didn't hide anything. So, instead of looking for something, I read the clues and took a guess. I said is the object I'm looking for love. He said no. I continued to sit there and took another guess. I said is the object me. No. Is it you. No. Is it... CAN YOU JUST PRETEND TO LOOK FOR SOMETHING!? So, I got up and followed the clues. They took me to the kitchen, the living room, the bathroom, and back to my room. At one point, I thought the object was a new makeup palette from one of my favorite artists and I got SOOO excited! Alas, we ended up looking under my bed in an old backpack to find this object. Getting frustrated, I stood up and turned my back to Mike to grab something to shove back under the bed. When I turned around, he was on his knee, with a ring in hand, asking me to be his wife. My reaction you ask? No, no, no...this isn't happening...no. DISCLAIMER: I was in shock people!!!! I reassured him quickly that my answer was yes. I also asked him (maybe too quickly) if he asked my Dad, which of course he did! Definitely a dream come true and forever grateful that we have each other!
