Answer

For our Thai Traditional Wedding, we kindly ask our guests to wear traditional Thai attire or cocktail attire. Women may wear a traditional Thai dress (chut Thai) or a modest and elegant dress. Men may wear a Thai silk shirt and pants, or a formal suit. It’s considered bad luck to wear black, so avoid black dresses or tops. Black trousers for men are acceptable. Wearing bright colors is encouraged. For our Wedding Ceremony and Reception, we kindly request that our guests dress in black tie attire for our wedding. Please see above for the color palette.

The Bridal Party will be wearing champagne for the Thai Traditional Wedding, and emerald for the Wedding Ceremony and Reception. Please refrain from wearing those colors as well so they can shine!

The greatest gift you can give us is being fully present as we say “I Do”. We are having an unplugged ceremony. Please refrain from using phones and cameras until the reception. We have hired professionals to capture this moment for us and we promise to share our photos as soon as we receive them. After the ceremony, feel free to take as many photos and videos as you’d like!

What airport should I land in?

Answer

Please book your flights to Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK), which is the main international airport in Bangkok.

Answer

No, U.S. citizens with a passport do not need a visa to enter Thailand for up to 60 days.

Question

Do I need a passport?

Answer

Yes, please make sure your passport is valid for at least six months before your arrival date.

Question

How do I get from the airport to the hotel?

Answer

Taxis and ride-share applications like "Grab" or "Bolt." Both ride-share services and taxis are available at Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK). Depending on traffic, it is about a 45 minute drive to the hotel. We recommend you download Grab and/or Bolt prior to your departure. It is cheaper and you will be getting live updates on arrival time.

Question

Where should I stay?

Answer

We have a room block at the Valia Hotel Bangkok. Our promo code is WEDNOV24 Please click the travel tab. There will be more information on our room block.

Question

What if I don’t book at the Valia Hotel Bangkok?

Answer

While we would love to have you stay with us, we understand that you may have other preferences or arrangements. Please feel free to choose accommodations that best suit your needs. However, when booking another hotel please keep in mind that traffic in Bangkok is very congested and travel time may vary to get to the two venues.

Question

Is there transportation to and from the hotels to the ceremony?

Answer

Shuttle services will be arranged between Valia Hotel and the two wedding venues. Details on timings will be shared closer to the date.

Question

Can we use our phones in Thailand?

Answer

We recommend you purchase an electronic sim card (E-Sim) prior to your arrival in Thailand. This will allow you to make phone calls, texts, and use the internet throughout your travels.

Question

What is an E-Sim and how do I purchase it?

Answer

E-Sim offers convenience by eliminating the need to call your carrier to pay daily. This is a better alternative than going through your provider. We recommend AIS, TruPhone, or DTAC. You can purchase directly through AIS.TH, True.TH, or DTAC.co.th prior to your departure. Prices are as low as $15 per phone.

Question

How do I get around in Bangkok or Phuket?

Answer

Download Bolt or Grab for the fairest prices. They also have motorcycle prices, which are a fraction of the price of a car. Valia Hotel Bangkok offers a free shuttle service every 15 minutes from the hotel to the Bangkok Transit System (BTS skytrain) Phrom Phong station, or to luxury shopping malls Emporium or EmQuartier.

Question

What currency is used in Thailand?

Answer

The currency is Thai Baht (THB). The conversion rate varies per day but is around $1 USD = 36 THB.

Question

How do I exchange money from USD to Baht?

Answer

We recommend exchanging at your bank 4 weeks prior to leaving. Please note that processing time for currency exchange may vary between banks. Some banks may take longer to complete transactions than others. This ensures you have the local currency on hand for any immediate needs upon arrival.

Question

How much cash should I bring?

Answer

We typically only use cash when traveling in Thailand. However, this is up to you. Street vendors and excursions only accept cash.

Question

Can I use my credit card in Thailand?

Answer

Yes, however we would recommend only using credit cards (not debit card) at the malls and sit down restaurants. Small vendors typically only accept cash.

When visiting temples and religious cultural sights, it’s important that you wear clothes that cover your knees and shoulders. If you forget, the temples offer or will sell you appropriate clothing. We suggest you bring a shawl if you plan on wearing tank tops.

It is typically hot and humid all year round. However, the winter months from November through March are the peak dry season and are considered the best time to travel to the majority of the country. It will be around 90 degrees Fahrenheit.

Question

What are the essentials to bring to Thailand?

Answer

Passport, light and breathable clothes, swimwear, medications, travel adapters for Thai power outlets (220V, 50Hz), comfortable shoes (we wore sandals the entire time), and sunscreen. iPhone chargers do not need travel adapters.

Question

What should I NOT bring to Thailand?

Answer

Vapes and marijuana are illegal and you can be fined if caught. You do not need to bring mosquito repellent. The American brands do not work on Thai mosquitos. We recommend you purchase mosquito repellent in Thailand at any convenience store. Do NOT bring winter clothing. We promise November will feel like summer on the hottest day.
