We met in the summer of 2020. 2020 was a year of limitations as many places were closed and traveling was halted, thus, picnics in parks became a common pastime for us (the bread baking skills Anne had been honing in that year came in clutch). Our bond built rapidly through conversation and shared interests (anime, movies, board games, traveling). Meeting your significant other is not an easy feat much less during a time of uncertainty and social distancing. However, we took a chance and now five years later here we are ready to start the next milestone of our lives. We look forward to celebrating this time with you all! Where was your first date? A sushi spot in Brooklyn What do you love about each other? He is someone that can make me laugh no matter what mood I am in. He loves the warmth and affection I show him daily. He also wants to give honorable mention to my type A personality when it comes to planning vacations. What is one of your favorite shared memories? Making home cooked meals at my apartment during the first year we met. How did you get engaged? The last day of our first Japan trip together we lined up to take photos at Shibuya Sky (see photo above). We had asked the couple behind us to help us take our photos. Unbeknownst to me, Mike had secretly shown the ring to the couple to inform them of his proposal plans. As they took our photos for us Mike got down on one knee to pop the question. Half embarrassed and half full of joy I said yes. It was the perfect ending to our amazing trip.
