Our Love Story

February 15th, 2024

It was a Thursday like any other for Alyssa (so she thought). She had league bowling at her parents' place and truly didn't know what that night would hold. Michael and some friends had also bowled that night in Austin prior to coming for drinks in Hayfield. After deciding they didn't want to go out anywhere in Austin that night, Garrett (groomsman), Nestor (groomsman), and Michael (groom-I hope you knew this already) headed for Waltham. However, Michael is terrible at directions and "missed" the turn to Waltham that night. Some call it a mistake, but we chalked it up to divine intervention, because Michael continued driving that night instead of turning around. They came upon the small town of Hayfield and saw a full parking lot at Uncle Mony's, so they pulled in. Alyssa was bowling away until she saw 3 men she didn't recognize at the bar. She approached the bar and asked Patty (friend and bartender) "Who are these guys?" with some attitude. Alyssa continued bowling while continuously coming back up to the bar to see a certain smile a few more times. She went to take her turn on the lanes and when she turned around to look at the bar again, the 3 men were gone. She was bummed, especially because she hadn't talked to the cute one (Sorry Nestor and Garrett). Fortunately though, they made their way back to Uncle Mony's after visiting downtown Hayfield because the cute one in their group wanted to see the cute girl at the bowling alley again. Alyssa made her way over to talk to them along with her friends Sarah (bridesmaid) and Terrell (usher). The Dead South's "In Hell I'll Be In Good Company" was playing in the background. Michael was VERY impressed because he loved this song and Alyssa had played it. After a few minutes of talking, Alyssa asked Michael if he had a phone number. Michael answered with "yes." Alyssa waited while Michael did NOT begin to give it to her. Alyssa questioned if this had been a mistake and then asked, "Can I have it?" At the end of the night Alyssa sang (duh) and told the friends that they should come to her performance with Dariel (Maid of Honor) at Gravity Storm Brewery coming up. That night, Michael carried Alyssa's bowling ball out to her car for her and they had their first kiss (don't judge). A few days later, guess who showed up to the brewery to see Alyssa sing? Michael. He's been showing up for her ever since. They moved in together, got a puppy, and found out, although he was a surprise, that they would be having a beautiful little baby! They got engaged and decided to plan their wedding for the following fall. Their baby was born on the same magical day that his parents met, February 15th. There has been laughing, learning, and loving ever since. We are so excited for you all to witness our marriage ceremony and to party all night long!
