2020 has been quite the year! What started off as a year full of hope and excitement after our engagement on December 27 quickly turned into one of uncertainty and fear - for everyone. While planning for our June wedding in Philadelphia, Seth had taken a new position in Dallas and moved there many months ahead of me, resulting in us spending the majority of our engagement apart. Shortly after this, the pandemic slowly trickled into all of our lives. The ICU that I worked in turned into a unit where we cared only for patients stricken with the virus. We faced daily uncertainty and fear for our patients, ourselves and our family. That fear turned into reality at the end of April when my father was admitted to the hospital for Covid-19. After a month-long hospital stay and the scariest weeks of our lives, we are so happy to say he has made a full recovery. With the ongoing progression of the virus in the US, we were eventually faced with the decision that we had placed on the backburner for months - our wedding. We knew we would not be able to have the dream wedding we had planned with the people that we so wanted to celebrate with. We made the decision to postpone any planning indefinitely.
With the decision to postpone made, we were able to focus our energy on our upcoming move from Philadelphia to Dallas. We felt strongly about capturing a part of our story in Philadelphia and were fortunately able to reschedule our previously postponed engagement photos to August 22 - just a week before our big move. After these were scheduled - Seth and I got to thinking about our time here. Philadelphia has been our home for 5 years. I began my career as a Physician Assistant here, we feel rooted to and love this city. Even though my original dream wedding was no longer an option, why couldn't a Philadelphia wedding still happen? The oldest church in Pennsylvania happens to be across the street from our apartment, its grounds we visited daily were Persi's favorite place to run and bark incessantly at squirrels. It would make a beautiful backdrop for a wedding ceremony.... We explored our options, contacted our previously scheduled vendors, reached out to a seamstress, one of our close friends immediately offered to officiate. Within a matter of days, we {re}planned our entire wedding. We allowed ourselves to finally get excited - after months of uncertainty, anxiety, cancelled plans - everything was falling into place.
So - the reason you're all here! Our intimate ceremony has been planned and will take place tomorrow! (August 22) and you're invited to join us on our live Zoom stream! We apologize for the short notice - we did not want anyone to feel obligated to travel to Philadelphia nor put anyone's health at risk. We wanted to keep this simple and special. We do anticipate that next year (hopefully) things will become less uncertain at which point we hope to be able to host our reception with all of our intended guests and be allowed to celebrate together as we initially planned. This event will likely be held in Dallas and we can't wait to celebrate our love while being {safely} surrounded with all of our friends and family! Please travel to the "Join us on Zoom" tab on this website to access the Zoom link to our ceremony. Our Amazon and Zola registries are also linked on this site! <3
