It all started in a small wine cellar in Downtown Maquoketa. Michaela and I met and enjoyed each others company over drinks and shared conversation. After a few drinks we headed to the local Mexican resturant to have a bite to eat. I was hooked, but then the end of the date came and I got a handshake. I thought for sure that the feeling wasn't mutual and that she wasn't interested, but then she wanted to see me again and eventually warmed up to me and decided to keep me around. In our free time you can find us camping, fishing, out on a lake, or spending time with one or the others family. Even though the we lived an hour away from one another and worked opposite hours we made it work because we both know that the other is worth the work. Michaela has a kind of secret love for walking bridges, abandoned bridges, or any old "cool looking" bridges. I have enjoyed taking her to various bridges such as the bridge in Kalona and the lovers leap bridge in Columbus Junction. On October 16th 2020 I proposed on a beautiful and blustery fall day on the Saulsbery Bridge over looking the Cedar River.
