Michaela's friend, Allie, and Mike's cousin, Jen, set us up on a group date at Turner's Seafood in Melrose, MA. Naturally, Allie and Jen sat us together. We seemed to hit it off well from the start and after dinner, we extended the date even further with after dinner drinks & more conversation.
Mike turned to Michaela in Clask 'N" Flagon and said "we should date" and Michaela replied "ya, we should." The rest is history!
COVID-19 put a damper on traditional dating. We spent about 6 weeks dating via Facetime. Once COVID hospitalization numbers went down a bit, we were able met each other's families outside, 6 feet apart. We had many outdoor hiking dates. That was a weird time!
Mike! (shockingly, right?!)
Ski/Snowboarding, hiking, concerts, exploring new restaurants, cooking together, breweries, traveling to new places, homemade pizza and drinks while listening to music (having our own sing-alongs)
We planned a skiing/snowboarding vacation at Okemo, VT months prior to Mike proposing. This week was also Mike's birthday week. On Monday, we spent the whole day skiing/snowboarding. What Michaela didn't know was that Mike was scouting out "the spot" for the following day. Being tired, we had a late start on the slopes on Tuesday. We did a few runs and Michaela was ready to call it quits but Mike was adamant that we needed one more good run. Michaela thought it was weird but was up for another run. Upon exiting the ski lift, it began to snow. We skied a bit down the mountain and ended up pulling to the side to take a shot of "the doctor" (Dr. McGillicuddy's). Little did Michaela know that the nip of Dr. McGillicuddy's was only to cover up the ring in Mike's pocket. After we drank the shot, Mike got down on one knee and asked Michaela to marry him.
