Pike Place Market opened on August 17, 1907 and is one of the oldest continuously operated public farmers' markets in the United States. Known for flying fish, fresh fruits, vegetables and flowers as far as the eye can see, everyone is sure to have a great time at the market. Consider grabbing a yogurt at Elenos stand or a pastry at Parosky Parosky, snap a shot at the world's very first Starbucks or sit where Tom Hanks enjoyed a nice lunch at the counter in the Athenian. Don't forget to bring some bubble gum, you'll want to leave your mark on the wall!
Stop in and grab a beer and a stunning views of the sound. If you're lucky enough to have a clear day you should be able to see Rainier to the south and the Olympic mountain range just across the sound.
Come belly up to the bar for a frosty mug and the best fish tacos in town! Head to the back bar, but don't miss the stool where Tom Hanks sat for lunch in Sleepless in Seattle. Arrive at 4pm for happy hour specials and to rub elbows with the local fisherman. Of special note, this is where we met for the first time.
What the city scape is most known for, come see what 1,000s were amazed by at the worlds fair, our Space Needle is a wonderful place to take in 360 views of the city skyline as well as the Olympic and Cascade mountain ranges. The new addition of a glass bottom floor will surely have you grabbing for a railing. Tickets can be purchased at the base of the needle. Combo tickets at a discounted rate can be purchased for Chihuly and the space needle.
Come see the magical works of Dale Chihuly, one of Seattle's most renowned artists. Some of you may have seen his works in the Makers Mark Distillery on the bourbon trail. Chihuly's showroom is located next to the Space Needle and passes can be purchased to both at a discounted rate.
Stop by the Amazons headquarters just one block from our apartment. You can run in and out of the amazon go store to grab essential snack items for the day without exchanging currency of any kind. Be sure to download the amazon go app prior to attempting, or they won't let you in. There is a visitor center at the base of the biospheres, and you can grab a mid day cocktail at the deep dive below the spheres. It can get pricey, you've been warned!
With summer weather comes ample opportunites on the water at South Lake Union. Rent stand up paddle boards, kayaks or paddle boats for a chance to cool off in the summer sun. The wooden boat museum and MOHI can also be seen in this area.
Considered a modern architectural work of art, walk in and explore on your own or take a scheduled tour.
Take a trip back in time and see how Seattle was truly made, before the tech bubble and Boeing brought traffic and money. Truly one of our favorite tourist activities in the city. Take a tour of Seattle's oldest 'sky scrapper' then enjoy a rooftop cocktail with stunning views of the city scape.
Walk on to the Bainbridge Ferry for a quick sail across the sound for an island getaway. Take a short walk up the hill from the ferry to a quaint town with shops and restaurants. Check out the Harbour Public House for some proper fish and chips and a pint of beer, as well as dining with a view. Make sure you pay attention to the ferry schedule to make it back to Seattle in time for the reception!
Come see how flight has evolved and what's coming next at Boeing. This site will be easier to enjoy if you have rented a car as it is south of the city.
For those of you with access to a car and the need for a little adventure and exercise you could make your way out to rattle snake ridge in North Bend. This is the first hike we took together when we met in September of 2016.
