Our story began on August 25, 2018, at a college house party in Anchorage, Alaska. Andrew, a hockey player from Michigan, met Michaela, a gymnast from Idaho, and a short conversation turned into something neither of us expected. Andrew reached out soon after, and by October 21, 2018, we were on our first date at Outback Steakhouse (yes, courtesy of a gift card). By August 29, 2019, we made it official and life quickly turned into a series of adventures. After graduating from the University of Alaska Anchorage in 2021, we packed up and followed hockey from Michigan to Illinois to North Carolina, learning that home is really just wherever we’re together. In March 2024, we finally put down roots in White Lake, Michigan, and in June 2025, our golden retriever Walter joined the chaos, stealing socks, snacks, and all of our hearts. On August 24, 2025, after a weekend with friends in Harbor Springs, Andrew suggested a “quick hike.” At Thorne Swift Nature Preserve, with the waves behind us and summer in the air, he got down on one knee. Michaela almost lost her balance on the rocks but still managed to say yes. Now we’re getting married, and we couldn’t be more excited to celebrate this next chapter with our favorite people.
