We were always destined to meet each other, but it took a little longer than expected. We both were in the Georgia Tech Honors Program, and we started the same semester in the Fall of 2012. We even lived in the same building for three years, but we never met until Spring of 2015. After living in the same building for three years, we finally met through mutual friends in Spring of 2015. We became friends, and in the August of 2015, we went on our very first date. We have loved each other through graduation, new jobs, being long-distance, and graduate school. On July 20th, 2019, almost 4 years after our first date, we will promise to spend the rest of our lives together.

Alex proposed to Michaela in Kauai, Hawaii on Anini Beach. He made a picnic for the two of them to share on the sand in front of the Pacific Ocean. Little did Michaela know, Alex had been working on the proposal since May of 2018. He spent months hand-making the perfect ring box for her. Once he found the perfect engagement ring, he put it in the box he made, and put that box in another box filled with photos of the two of them over the three years they were together. Once Michaela finished looking through the photos, she found her engagement ring in the wooden box at the bottom of the gift box. Sitting next to her in the sand, Alex asked Michaela to marry him, and she said yes!
