So how did a Slovak and an Ecuadorian meet? Well, let me tell you... It all started 9 years ago, Jose had recently graduated from college in Florida and moved to Winchester, MA for work. Similarly, after graduating from college in Oklahoma, Michaela packed her bags and moved to Hamilton, MA, also for work. They met each other during the fall season working together at a tennis club. Michaela recalls her first impression of Jose as “funny, cute, but wearing a horrible track suit.” His first impression of Michaela was more flattering, he recalls thinking “wow, she is very tall and pretty, and looks like my next girlfriend.” That same year, they kept seeing each other on several occasions together with friends but parted ways during the holiday break. Jose went to visit his family in Ecuador, while Michaela went to visit her family in Slovakia. They kept in touch during that time and once they landed back in Boston that is when their adventure began. After attending grad school together, ditching the track suit, switching careers, traveling the world, and many years together, Jose finally decided to pull the trigger. With help of their puppy Ziggy as the messenger, he proposed to Michaela on a hot morning walk at the beach. Jose can entertain you with a 2-hour version of the proposal if you are interested (and have time). They both continue to live in the Boston area and are very excited to start this new chapter of their lives, and of course, celebrate with you!
