Question

When should we fly in / fly out?

Answer

Of course, that is up to you! However, if it helps to know our plan – we will be arriving in the Sintra/Lisbon area Tuesday morning (in order to finish up a few wedding-related things and also to catch up on sleep). Otherwise, we are hanging around Sintra/Lisbon until the Sunday morning following the wedding (so 6/25 – 6/30). We know many people are planning to explore more of Portugal and other parts of Europe, too! Just let us know if you have questions!

Question

What is the lodging situation?

Answer

There are so many amazing options! We will have a few specifically listed on the website (see the Travel page); however, if you prefer to stay in Lisbon or near the beach please do so! Just note that you will need to make your own arrangements for transportation from wherever you choose.

Question

Are kids invited?

Answer

We love your kids—we really do. But we want our wedding to be your night off! For immediate family only, you will notice that the kids are invited specifically on your invitation if "and family" is noted.

Question

Can I bring a date?

Answer

If your invitation says “and Guest,” then yes, of course!

Question

What’s the dress code?

Answer

The only real rule? Have fun with it! Cocktail Attire or “Garden Party Chic” - anything from gowns to cocktail dresses, and suits to jackets and slacks. Have fun with it – we will be!

Question

What is the best way to get to Sintra?

Answer

Luckily, it is pretty easy and there are a few ways! The easiest way, once you land, is to take an Uber from the Lisbon airport directly to Sintra (to the address at which you are staying). This is the way we have done things so far - you should expect ~30 minute ride for ~$25 each way! Of course, you can always take the train or rent a car as well!

Question

How can I find the best flights / fares?

Answer

We absolutely *love* this app called "hopper" - if you download it and log in, you can "flag" trips, and the app will show you the best airfares and even tell you whether to buy now or wait for a better price! We are using it as well - check it out: https://www.hopper.com/

Question

What else is helpful to know when traveling to Portugal?

Answer

Not many people take American Express, and many places will take cash only (or local, Portuguese debit cards only), so it's always good to have cash and a Visa on hand!
