Our Story

#jargon

Micah and I both went to Christian Life Cathedral's college and young adult ministry, The Link, but have no memory of talking to or even really seeing each other until January 2019. We somehow got in a conversation and immediately connected over our jobs in mental health and substance abuse as well as several other similar interests. We both found it very refreshing that we could easily discuss the field that we both worked in and joked that others never understood what we came to fondly refer to as "hashtag jargon." Through all of these conversations, I realized that I wanted to talk to Micah at church more than anyone else (no offense Link friends). He comments that he was surprised by how much I laughed at all of his jokes. After several months of talking after church and realizing we were the last to leave the parking lot every Sunday, we finally went on our first date!

The Proposal

#shesaidyes

On June 26, 2020 I had a hectic day at work and was anxious to get home to see my family that was in town for the weekend! We had planned this visit for several weeks and I had everything scheduled to show them around Northwest Arkansas. I had made a dinner reservation so that we could all be together the first night they were in town. I will admit that I suspected a proposal could happen that weekend, but of course I never thought for a second that it would be that night since I had confirmed the plans. When Micah and I get in the car to go to the dinner he said he had left his wallet at his friend's house and needed to meet them at the church to pick it up. As soon as he said this I was immediately suspicious but still confused and unsure what was about to happen. We pull up in front of the church to a grassy hill that overlooks Fayetteville and I see a table with flowers, pictures of us, and the ring. He got on one knee and said a million sweet things before asking if I would marry him. Of course I said yes!

To our Friends and Family..

#thankyou

We would like to give a huge thank you to all of our friends, family, and community who have been important parts of our story! From the friends at the Link who played a role in encouraging our budding relationship, to our family that has welcomed each of us as their own, we wouldn't be here without you all! Micah and I both feel that the community around us is something to cherish and be grateful for. It has allowed us to grow as individuals as well as in our relationship, and we know that will be even more crucial once we are married. We appreciate all of you for the parts you have played and we truly can't wait to celebrate with everyone!
