...no but really. It is. So, Micah and I had both lived in Lynchburg, Virginia, worked in Enrollment at Liberty University, and went to the same church for years. But we never met. In June 2019, I moved to Nashville, Tennessee, but was still working for Liberty remotely. I had the INCREDIBLE opportunity to go on a work trip to Montana just two weeks after moving, and it felt so good to reconnect with friends and coworkers and to meet new people. I quickly formed a crew with Shante and Joel, and we three spent nearly the entire week together. After our first dinner there, we were walking up to this sweet chapel on the property and had to stop on a bench halfway up the hill, because you know, hills. It wasn't long before a tall blonde guy and his friend started walking up toward us and I introduced myself. It was Micah. As they kept walking, Joel leaned over and said, "He's cute!" But I protested because I had just moved 500 miles away. The week went by and Micah and I chatted some, but never really got into conversation until our last full day there. Everyone went tubing down the river on the property where we were staying, and I remember hoping that my tube would somehow end up near his. And it did. We started talking and it was super evident that Micah not only worked at a Christian college, but he really knew Jesus. It felt like a mutual friend was introducing us. Throughout the day we had a couple more good chats, and I thought for sure he'd slide into my DMs when we got home. But that night, after hours of great talks with many good friends, Micah and I found ourselves to be the last two people by the fire. And our conversation seemed endless. He put another log on the fire, then another, until before we knew it the sun was rising. He asked if he could visit me in Nashville, and I said yes. Micah made his first of many Nashville trips three weeks later and sweetly asked me to be his girlfriend under a willow tree in Centennial Park. Jesus is so kind.
