How We Met

January 5, 2018

Micah and Haley met through a mutual friend who was going to the same community college as Haley at the time. This friend, Sy Odom, had been friends with Micah since junior high. On January 5, 2018, Sy mentioned Haley to Micah as a girl to potentially take on a date. Micah's face lit up when he saw a picture of Haley, and the feeling was mutual for Haley. After getting each other's contact information through Sy, the two communicated via phone for exactly one week until their first date on January 12, 2018. Micah drove to pick Haley up at her father and stepmother's house. As soon as the two saw each other, they just knew. It was one of those feelings you can't quite put into words. It was an overwhelming peace that the two had found the ones that God had so intricately planned for them. They went to a coffee shop and talked for four hours about everything under the sun before going to dinner. Two days later, Haley went to his church where his father is the music minister, and there she met his parents. A week later, he met Haley's mother. Then, on January 26, 2018, after a day of spending time with Micah's family for his father's birthday, Micah asked Haley to date him under one condition - the next girl he asked to be his girlfriend was going to be the same girl he asked to be his wife. Haley, without hesitation, said yes. The two spent the next year and a half of their relationship growing together in the Lord as He was preparing them for the next stage of life - marriage.

The Proposal

August 11, 2019

Micah and Haley knew early on in their dating relationship that marriage was in the future. It was just a matter of time for the Lord to reveal His perfect plan for their lives and careers. Praying and trusting God's timing for His will in their lives was done a lot throughout the dating stage. However, the Lord opened up a door of opportunity for Micah on November 23, 2018. Both of their families went to NYC for the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade over Thanksgiving break. The night of Thanksgiving, Haley and Micah went shopping at Macy's. The two looked at rings together and stumbled upon a gorgeous ring the two fell in love with. After leaving the store, both families went to sleep except for Micah and his father. They went back to Macy's in the middle of the night and purchased the ring. Eight months later, Micah and Haley, along with Micah's father, mother, and brother, went to Lake Ouachita in Mount Ida, Arkansas for a vacation before school started back. Micah's parents had been going to this lake before their boys were even born. When the boys were born, their parents took them to the lake often and created many special memories there. Sunday, August 11, 2019, Micah took Haley to a gazebo overlooking Lake Ouachita called Micah's Pointe. This was a place that was special to Micah, and he knew since he was seven years old that he was going to propose to his future wife there. At 7:30 pm, Micah got down on one knee and asked the beautiful words, "Will you marry me?" After several questions of "Is this for real?" and "Are you serious?" Haley exclaimed, "Yes!" The two are thrilled and blessed by the number of people who have supported them throughout their relationship and celebrated their special moment alongside them. They give all the glory to God for bringing them together and are so excited for what the Lord will do in their lives in the future.
