We met during the Mardi Gras themed dinner in Gwinn Commons at Seattle Pacific University. In her usual fashion, Bekah assured Micah that she was capable of eating all the beignets. (She did). After following each other on instagram and talking until the late hours, Micah asked her out to coffee that weekend. Bekah agreed and there they learned of their shared loves of Star Wars, camping, coffee, and more.
Despite meeting at Seattle Pacific University, Bekah and Micah had a ten month stint of long distance, often going 3-4 months without seeing each other, at a time. Through this, they built their foundation of love and trust through several themed boxes, monthly letters, and plenty of Skype calls. The one good thing Covid did? Finally bring these two together. After SPU shut down for Covid-19, Micah and his parents quickly came to her rescue, moving her to La Grande, OR where she has lived happily ever since.
After several weekend adventures and hikes, Micah and Bekah decided their last trip before winter weather hit would be a trip to the Union Waterfall, a hidden gem. Upon getting there, two other hikers (one with a camera) made their way to the waterfall where Micah and Bekah were already barefoot and standing near the basin. Bekah commented on how it was strange other people were around: they had always had the waterfall to themselves. After wimping out over how cold the water was, Bekah finally turned to find Micah on one knee (yes, in the water!) presenting her with the most beautiful ring set she had ever seen. Through tears, laughter, and disbelief, Bekah agreed to marry him to the clicks of the photographer he had asked to join us.
In an intimate ceremony with Half Dome to witness, Bekah and Micah tied the knot surrounded by immediate family and friends. They spent the day exploring Yosemite, giggling with each other, and hanging out with family. Overall, it was a 13/10 day.
