HOW WE MET

LIKE ALL GREAT STORIES START... THAT ONE DAY IN HIGHSCHOOL

After classes were over for the day, we both were introduced through a mutual friend, Eve (thanks Eve!). Micah and Eve were hanging out and waiting for a friend when I walked through the gym for basketball practice. Eve introduced the two of us and then, the three of us, along with another groomsman (Ryan) became best friends. We were best friend's for 2 years before Micah asked me to be his girlfriend.

THE PROPOSAL

HERES THE DEAL - THERE ARE ALWAYS TWO SIDES TO A STORY

AUNIKA'S VERSION: Micah and I had talked about getting married one day. And during those conversations, or in my conversations with others I always said that I wanted to be surprised. On the day of, I had ABSOLUTELY no idea that that day would be THE day. Micah's sister and brother in law were up visiting and we had just found this beautiful spot along Chuckanut Bay in Bellingham. That morning we all decided that we were going take his family there, along with our friend, Eddie and take some pictures. When we got there Eddie offered to take some photos of us. After our first pose, Micah grabbed my hand and my first thought was, "okay the awkward prom pose. This is going to be funny." But then he stepped back and started to drop down. Honestly, in the moment, I slightly blacked out. I instantly recognized that something was happening, but not what was actually happening. I took what felt like 50 steps away from Micah (I should clarify that we were near a ledge but in the moment I just needed to step back) to process everything. I remember I kept saying, "what? really? this isn't supposed to happen for a couple more years." Micah grabbed my hand, pulled me back to him and hugged me. After a few minutes of hiding my face and processing what just happened, I was ready to say yes. MICAH'S VERISION:

For all the days along the way
