We're Getting Married

Micaela had to vent with her sister Elaina on a Wednesday night in November of 2020. Luckily they chose to air their grievances at the finest sports bar in Southeast Wisconsin, Club Paragon. Now I know most people don’t think about love stories when they think of Club P, but fortunately for Nick, his Boss and Boss’s wife (Tim and Chris) also chose to spend their night at the same establishment. As fate would have it, Micaela and Elaina happened to sit at the bar next to Tim and Chris and got to chatting. Chris, always the matchmaker, quickly learned more about the sweet, fun and adventurous Micaela and knew the perfect human to cure Micaela’s relationship problems once and for all. Chris quickly pulled up Nick’s Facebook Profile Picture and shockingly Micaela didn’t turn away in disgust. The night continued and Chris and Tim told Micaela how Nick was actually planning on joining them back at Club Paragon this coming Saturday to watch the Badgers football team play the Wolverines and without much convincing, Micaela agreed to join. Nick wasn't caught completely by surprise by the scheduled blind date. Chris let him in on the secret by sending a selfie of her and Micaela to Nick that night. Although a little caught off guard, Micaela’s selfie was more than enough to convince Nick that he’d be an idiot to turn down this serendipitous potential match. That Saturday night Nick arrived at Club Paragon early to join the normal Badger football viewing crew, but this time he was a little more nervous. After drinking a few High Lifes to calm his nerves (for the big football game and the upcoming introductions) he happened to turn towards the entrance and see four new people walking into the bar. Immediately one stood out and he recognized her as the girl from the photo the other night - she was even more beautiful in person. Of course Micaela didn’t arrive by herself but instead brought her three closest friends (backup), Elaina, Zanah, and Breanna and grabbed the table right by Nick and his badger crew. After introductions and a little small talk, Nick joined Micaela’s posse at their table - nervous to make a good impression on not only Micaela but also her three best friends! Although at times it felt more like an interrogation from Zanah, Nick had gotten to know Micaela a little more, see her smile in person and hear her laugh. He knew he wanted to learn more about her. Micaela was a little awestruck yet slowgoing. She kept her composure enough to keep conversation flowing while learning more about Nick. After calming both of their nerves it was clear there was a connection to be made between the two. They hung out late into the night and had decided an official first date was in order. Nick was tasked with choosing a place with “good music” and “good vibes”. Even though the first date mostly lacked both of those stipulations, the conversation was fun and the connection was real. They had both known there was no way this was going to be their last date. It wasn’t long before Nick was coming to family dinners where Micaela’s niece and nephews began affectionately referring to him as Uncle Nicky and asked when we were getting married. Nick decided that instead of jumping straight to a proposal that it might be best to move a little slower and asked Micaela to be his girlfriend. Officially dating turned into sharing “I Love Yous” which turned into moving in together. A couple years went by and throughout lots of amazing memories, adventures, and growth together, they both knew marriage was the ultimate goal. Nick finally found the right time to propose to Micaela on their annual camping trip to Crystal Lake in August of 2023. Micaela eagerly said “Yes!” and we’ve been celebrating ever since! Can’t wait to share more of our love story with our friends and family!
