This is our top pick in the area! Pick one or two places to stop, or see them all! The "Fruit Loop" as it is lovingly referred to, is a sort of self-guided tour of some of Oregon's best wineries, fruit & vegetable stands, flower fields, ciders, and food spots. Some of our favorite places to stop; The Gorge White House Fruit Stand and Winery, Stave and Stone Winery at the Vineyard, and Hood River Lavender Farms.
An iconic waterfall in the area, with options to hike none, some or all of this gorgeous 600 foot waterfall. Located right off the highway, this spot is easily accessible on the way from Portland to Hood River via Hwy 84. A great way to start or end the trip.
If you're looking to get outdoors or on the water, this is the place to do it. Spectacular views of Mt. Hood and options to rent paddle boards, kayaks, etc., with day use and overnight camping options. This is one of our favorite places to stop every time we're in Oregon.
Around here...we reaaallllyy like our beer. You can't go wrong visiting any location on this list. Each has great beer, most with great food and patios to match. Make sure to ask the staff for a brewery passport at each place. We dare you to get all 12 stamps while you're here ;)
If you're staying in Hood River and not sure where to look for food, start here. Portway Ave in Hood River houses some of our favorite restaurants and breweries; pHreim Family Brewers, Ferment Brewing Company, Solstice Cafe and Bar, to name a few. Located right on the Columbia River, grab a coffee and walk the waterfront.
If you have extra time before heading east, and have always wanted to experience the Oregon Coast, Cannon beach is the ideal place to go. Different than crowded beaches that you may have experienced, this quiet beach is beautiful and relaxing. If the beach is on your to-do list, we recommend you head west to the coast straight from the airport.
If you decide to stay a night or two in Portland before heading East, Huber's Cafe is the oldest restaurant in Portland, and a real gem. If you go, you MUST ask to sit in the back bar, and HAVE to order a Spanish Coffee made table side.
