Our First Date

Chip's POV

Mica was very easy to talk to. Dating is a stressful ordeal but Mica always had funny zingers to send my way and plenty of topics to chat about. So I was very happy to have a relaxing and chill walk around our neighborhood with her. We had a great time and definitely did not get lost. I would never get lost. And even though we were a bit underdressed for the chilly evening weather, we didn't want the night to end and couldn't stop talking. We admired a nice view of the Boston skyline and walked along the waterfront, and I couldn't have asked for a nicer evening.

Our First Date

Mica's POV

I just moved to Boston from the Philippines when I matched with Chip on Tinder and we talked online for a week before deciding to meet up on a chilly Monday night. I was exhausted and unprepared for the cold, but he lived nearby and I wanted a non-work interaction with people my age. I was nervous and wore my favorite color (red) for comfort. I texted him what color he was wearing, he replied with: “It’s a mystery color…..green.” I laughed, found this guy wearing a green shirt on the bridge near the Savin Hill station, and we just started walking. He showed me the Boston skyline, walked all the way to the UMass boardwalk, and talked for hours! I can’t exactly remember what we talked about, but by the end of the night, I’d forgotten why I was so nervous. I said I wanted chicken and beer. He only gave me beer that night, but he has been giving me all the chicken since then…

The Proposal

Chip's Side of the Story

Mica adores the beach, so I wanted that to be incorporated in the proposal. And the most romantic setting is the beach sunset. Unfortunately, being on the east coast of the US does not give us many sunsets to work with. Thankfully, traveling to Provincetown on Cape Cod gave me a wonderful sunset opportunity. We had a great day exploring the town and ended it on the westward facing beach. The air was comfortable, the sky was slightly cloudy, and the water was unbearably cold (like always). I tried not to give too many things away, but it was tough keeping the nerves in check. When the sun finally set, the sky turned into the most vibrant shades of orange, red, and purple I had ever laid eyes on!!! It was truly a sight to behold! And during the peak of the colors, I turned to Mica and popped the question. She absolutely hates anything too cheesy so I did expect her to panic. Thankfully, she did come back and say yes!

The Proposal

Mica's Side of the Story

I always wanted to visit Provincetown and was happy when Chip agreed to vacation there for the labor day weekend. I knew something was up because he was sooooo cheesy the week leading up to it and also the entire day! For reference, I HATE being cheesy/sappy/too affectionate, especially in public. We still had a fantastic time though and decided to watch the sunset by the beach, except that it never came, because the weather got extremely gloomy. The dark, stormy clouds covered the sky and made it spookily dark, so I was running around humming Lord of the Ring’s scary (Mordor) music. Then Chip suddenly got up and told me he had something to ask. I KNEW WHAT HE WAS GOING TO ASK. I panicked and hummed my scary music louder. He got down on one knee with the ring in his hands and I could not take the sappiness of the situation. Mind blank, I stole the ring and ran away from him.
