The wedding is hosted in a back yard that typically has very sturdy grass, I wouldn't recommend stilettos, but any flat, wedge, or chunky heel should do. It is in May, so some rain is expected that month, but it shouldn't be overly muddy.
We are looking to serve a full meal, and the actual ceremony should be fairly prompt.
I would err on the formal side, while still wearing something loose and light. It can get hot this time of year, and it will predominately be outside. Feel free to wear bright and fun spring colors and florals, but please keep is classy and elegant. That means no jeans, hats, or t-shirts.
Absolutely! Going to an event alone can be lonely and daunting. All I ask is that you please account for it when you fill out your RSVP so that we can account for it when it comes to seating and food.
You can always bring your kids, this is a family celebration, and it would only make sense to include children in the beautiful beginnings of a family that is marriage. All we ask is that they're watched with a close eye as this is our home and not just a random venue, and we have many things that are precious to us close by. There will be a pool that doesn't have a cover so if you are uneasy about your children playing around a pool that they could easily fall into, I would recommend looking into a sitter.
Nope! The bride and groom aren't big drinkers, so a bar isn't something they really value or need to celebrate. We do plan to have one cocktail available, but if you would like to bring some drinks that usually like to celebrate with, feel free. All we ask is that you have a plan ahead of time. Midlothian is a little out of the way, and Ubering back home can be costly.
Please, please, please don't. The bride and groom live 1,000 miles away from the venue and have limited car space. They do however have an online registry through Amazon that should allow you to send the gifts directly to them that you can find in the registry tab of this website. If you want to bring cash or a check, we will have a jar for a honeymoon fund that you can drop it in. If you want to get us a gift that isn't on the registry, you can contact the bride or groom directly to receive their address for shipping. However getting items from the registry is the highest priority.
You may not take photos during the ceremony as we will have a professional photographer who will be taking photos. We would like to keep cellphones out of the shot and have our professional photos of the event released before any other photos as we are spending a lot of money on the perfect shots. At the reception, we are looking to have disposable cameras at the tables and will get the film developed afterward and will share it with everyone. If you want to post photos of the reception to your social media stories, feel free. But please do not post them to your main feeds.
Just about. It will be on the first floor without stairs. Since the ceremony and reception are outside, it might be a little tough to get things like wheelchairs to your spot, but we can certainly work to help you.
