I grew up taking art classes here, and it's forever one of my favorite places in the city. If you're feeling adventurous, run the iconic "Rocky steps" at the East entrance!
Locust Walk
This beautiful walkway through Penn's campus (Mak's alma mater) is perfect for a scenic morning stroll. Check out the historic architecture and fall foliage under a canopy of trees, then stop at Metropolitan Bakery on 40th & Walnut for coffee and freshly baked pastries.
Rittenhouse Square Park
Our best-known park! One of five original squares planned by city founder William Penn in the late 17th century, Rittenhouse Square is the heart of Center City Philadelphia.
Parc
A taste of Paris right here in Philly! This is one of our go-to date spots and the quintessential brunch/dinner spot on the Square. If weather permits, sit outside with a view of the park and order the tuna carpaccio. We recommend making a reservation in advance!
Vernick Food & Drink
If you're looking for a memorable meal, look no further than James Beard award-winning chef Greg Vernick's inviting neighborhood bistro. We can safely say that no matter what you order on the menu here, it's bound to be mind-blowingly delicious. Pro tip: Make a reservation if you can - but they do allow walk-ins at the bar. End the evening with a to-go bottle from the wine shop next door!
Talula's Garden
The outdoor garden at this charming farm-to-table restaurant in Washington Square Park is one of our favorite brunch destinations. If you're in the mood for something sweet, go for the french toast sticks or seasonal muffins!
Wm. Mulherin’s Sons
If you have time to make it to Fishtown, Mulherin's is truly a delight. They have really good drinks — and even better pizza. You can't go wrong with the margherita, but the "Spicy Jawn" is a Philly favorite.
Tria Cafe Rittenhouse
If you love wine & cheese as much as we do, Tria is a great choice. We love coming here for happy hour or for a glass of vino before dinner. There are two locations (one in Rittenhouse & one at Washington Square West) and both are great.
The Twisted Tail
Located in Philly's historic Society Hill, this hidden gem is known for its plethora of whiskey & live blues music. The vibe is low key and cozy, and the food is delicious and affordable.
Angelo's Pizzeria
Dave Portnoy reviewed this as "the best pizza in Philly" for a reason, but Mak urges you not to neglect the cheesesteaks. Expect to have a hard time getting through to their phone lines, and you'll have to walk over to pick up your order since they don't offer delivery — but we promise, it'll all be worth it.
Middle Child
It's the day after the wedding, and you're incredibly hungover and in need of a breakfast sandwich. Trust us, you'll find everything dreams are made of at this neighborhood sandwich spot.
K'Far Cafe
An all-day Israeli cafe with some of the best coffee and pastries in Philadelphia. Lunch options are great, too!
Metropolitan Bakery (Rittenhouse Square)
With several locations throughout the city and 25+ years in business, Metropolitan Bakery is a Philadelphia institution. You truly can't go wrong with anything you order here, but their raspberry crumb bars are our favorite.

Reading Terminal Market
One of America's largest and oldest public markets (it's been around since 1883!) this historic landmark is a must see for foodies who want to properly experience the authentic flavors of Philly.
