There was a camping trip where a bunch of local Floridians gathered from all over to camp. I'd been talked into going with a group of friends; I'm not much of an outdoorsy person. I remember being in a very low place around that time and recently had my heart broken as well. So my goal for the weekend was to drink and dance and forget my woes for a few days. That first night, he approached me, said a few words about how lovely the evening was; I don't remember what he said exactly, since I was half way through a bottle of Fireball. But what I do remember is being instantly drawn to him, through my drunken haze I knew that I needed to be near him for as long as I could, and learn as much as I could about him before the camping trip was over. Thankfully, we did spend the rest of the camping trip together and it was magical. He was handsome and charming, a gentleman and so kind, he was smooth and mysterious and so easy to talk to. But most importantly, he made me feel safe, and cared for. This stranger had become my haven. From that point on, I was determined to keep him in my life because I wanted to feel that way forever.... I guess you could say it was love at first sight. ❤️
December of 2019, we went to Stone Mountain in Atlanta, and I knew that this was want I wanted for the rest of my life; more trips with my family, more moments like this. I had Mia by my side with our kids exploring new heights on a mountain, it was beautiful, it was peaceful, and so much fun. I finally had everything I've ever wanted. After months of planning and researching, I'd found the perfect ring, but COVID kept putting a hitch on the perfect timing. When I finally got the ring, I couldn't wait any longer. I had to make her mine. I was determined to make the moment as magical as possible, given the circumstances. I got our family together and swept her away to one of her favorite escapes, the beach. There on the warm sand, under a beautiful sky, I fished the ring out of my pocket, dropped on one knee, raised my hopes and dreams, and asked her to be my wife. With a stunned look followed by the happiest smile I'd ever seen her wear, she said yes!
