To know both of us is to know the story of our meeting has two very different sides... Mia's side to the story: Greg and I were the same year in our PhD program at UT Austin. During the first week in the program, we had a department retreat for all of us first years to get to know the faculty and the other students more, and of course bond with each other. During one of the breaks that weekend, I was headed down to the lake at the resort with my roommates and some new friends. I had previously spotted Greg around and thought he was fairly cute, so I decided to walk up and ask if he wanted to come to the lake with us. Greg, who was standing alone and scrolling on his phone, looked up at me like I was crazy when I asked him if he was going to the lake and said yes in a short curt tone. I took the hint and walked away. However, shortly after all of us took a fairly awkward shuttle ride (Greg included) down to the lake, and I got into my swimsuit, suddenly ole' Greg was much more talkative. After that, we slowly became friends. The first year we would all hang out as a class a lot and I noticed Greg would always end up next to me at the bar or in my uber down to the bars. Eventually after months of slowly talking, getting to know eachother, and flirting, Greg finally asked me out, the day after Valentines Day (a story for another time). A few weeks later we had our first kiss while Texas two steppin' at the White Horse in Austin Texas, and have been obsessed with eachother, sass and all, ever since. Greg's side of the story: I prevented Mia from being shot that day at the lake.
