From the Block to “I Do”

#FromTheBlockToMcLaurin

As we sit down to tell our love story, we can’t help but laugh… because honestly—who would have ever thought Mia and Charles would end up here like this?! We grew up in the same neighborhood, living life and minding our business… and definitely not paying each other any attention. Back then, it was just a high yellow girl teasing a boy whose grandma wouldn’t let him leave the yard—and yes, she irritated his soul. Bad. Fast forward, and life really doubled back like, “Oh, y’all thought I was done? Let me fix that.” When our paths crossed again, things were different. He was finally “out the yard,” and almost instantly, a friendship formed that turned into something deeper. From that point on, we’ve been part of each other’s lives ever since—and thankfully, we actually like each other. Everybody knew him as B.C., but to her, he became Chuckie… McLaurin… Bookie Snoop—all the personalities. And somehow, she said yes to the entire collection. From the beginning, there was just a vibe. During our engagement photos, the photographer kept talking about “the way he looks at you.” And she was like, “I KNOW… that’s mine.” Because that look? That’s real love—no filters, no pretending. Now let’s be honest—this journey hasn’t been perfect. We’ve had ups, downs, and a few “don’t talk to me right now” days. But through it all, we stayed solid. Stayed together. Because at the end of the day, it’s always been us. Then came the proposal. On Mother’s Day, he did the impossible—he kept a secret. No hints, no slip-ups, nothing. Honestly, that alone deserved a yes. When he got down on one knee, she was smiling so hard her face probably hurt—happy, shocked, and a little impressed, because she just knew he was going to tell somebody. But he didn’t. Growth. Now she’ll admit it—she can be a handful… actually, two handfuls and a little extra. But him? He handles it with patience, care, and a steady “I got you” that keeps everything grounded. Looking back, forever didn’t start with a ring. It started in the small moments—laughing at nothing, being silly, and him going places and trying foods he definitely didn’t want… but still showing up anyway. That’s love. Through every version of us, every season, every mood—we kept choosing each other. Even on the days we got on each other’s nerves. And now here we are. Still laughing. Still loving. Still choosing each other—every single day. This isn’t just a wedding. This is a full-circle moment. A love story that started on the block and turned into something unbreakable. And now, we can’t wait to celebrate it with all of you… Because this is just the beginning. 💍
