Our Story

Cecil's Story: It was the first football game of freshman year, an away game, so instead of heading to the stadium, we were all gathered at my fraternity brother’s house, grilling, hanging out, and watching the game in the backyard. I remember meeting Mia for the first time when she walked up and started talking to one of my fraternity brothers, it was then she turned to me and continued to make small talk. I was excited to talk to her. She was a pretty red-headed girl that was interested in talking to me! Too bad that I was so nervous that she had to ask me for my number first. I wasn’t looking for my wife the day that I met Mia, but God had other plans. After I had a way to talk to her, I got bold. Was she interested at first? Absolutely not. Over the next couple of weeks, I found excuses to be around her, inviting her to things, texting her (a lot), probably being slightly annoying in the most charming way possible. Eventually, she gave in (thankfully), and from that point on, we’ve been pretty much inseparable. Being so far away from home and moving away from my family, Mia quickly became family for me, she provided me with the comfort and care that I had been missing and even now she is still showing me that care and comfort that she so generously gave me then. Mia's Story: I had no idea I was about to meet my future husband that day. It was a backyard football watch party, nothing fancy, just the usual frat tailgate. My friends and I, at the time, met up with a mutual friend who was there, and through him, I was introduced to Cecil. I’ll be honest… I didn’t think much of it at first. He was nice, but it just felt like a casual conversation during a football game. I asked for his number anyway (lol). After that night I didn’t think much more about him, but it was clear through his persistence that he was more interested than I thought. After a couple of weeks of him texting, checking in, and genuinely showing interest, I finally decided to give him a chance. Once we finally started spending time together, I realized just how much I actually liked him. From that point on, we did almost everything together. Over the last four years, we’ve grown so much together, especially in our faith. It wasn't something forced, it was something that God put on our hearts, that putting him at the center of everything would only make us stronger. Now God has blessed Cecil and I with the opportunity to have what we have always dreamed of. We are so grateful we get to commit our lives to one another, surrounded by the people we love most! SEE YOU IN JUNE!
