They met at a BBQ while Mia was traveling in NY and Ben was on a Bethel assignment. Ben almost died from a sesame seed, but they still found a few topics of common ground; goals, travel, and good food (that doesn't kill Ben). A week later, Mia and her friend invited Ben to Brooklyn/Queens to see a baseball game. Initially Ben declined, but Todd said, "you don't get out enough, just go, you wont regret it." They spent a bit of time together, but Ben mostly talked to Vince throughout the evening. Some time later, they reconnected online and started messaging back and forth. They spent almost a year "getting to know each other" Long Distance, before Ben made the first move and asked Mia out. That led to 9 more long months of Long Distance dating. During that time, they shared milestones together! Mia called into Ben's first public talk at 1 am. And Ben called Mia while she spent a few months preaching in Italy. Ben broke his collarbone in the midst of this, and moped around in his parents basement whilst tripping out on percs. You'd be surprised how many HOURS two people can spend talking about nothing. They discovered it. In March of 2024, Ben visited Mia in Australia. Ben was able to spend a few weeks getting closer to Mia's home family and friends. 3 months later, Mia visited Ben in Michigan to officially meet his parents and sisters. She happened to like it enough to come back and spend a little more time in the late summer and fall. Mia's sister came to visit as well and shared the engagement moment on October 5, 2024. Later that month Mia's parents came to visit as well. After some chatting and planning, their families decided to travel to Tuscany, Italy to share the special moment of their wedding ceremony together! Honestly the last year has been a complete blur. They spent this time travelling around the world multiple times, driving across states, and spending time with people we love. Most importantly they had to decide if this was all worth it and if they'll actually get married. ('We will. Promise.')
