Like many modern day love stories, we both swiped right on Bumble. After talking for a few days and realizing we have a few things in common Nick asked to meet up for a date night of mini golf at Big Mini Putt Club. Once the night of December 21, 2021 rolled around both found each other in a bit of a predicament. Nick realized this was the same night as the big Illinois vs. Missouri (Bragging Rights!) basketball game, and Mia was stressed from work, holidays, and endless first dates. Mia attempted to cancel the date by saying she did not want to risk getting sick right before the holidays, but Nick (being the gentleman that he is) told Mia that he could wear a mask if that made her feel more safe. Mia realized she was not getting out of this date! Nick arrived early to Big Mini Putt Club so he could strategically position himself at a table where he could talk to Mia but also discretely watch the big game. Nick watched Mia walk into Big Mini, do two full circles around the bar looking for Nick before finally laying eyes on each other. After a couple rounds of drinks and learning about each other, Mia realized Nick checked off everything on her very long and intransigent list of what she is looking for in a partner. The Illinois game finally made it to half-time and Nick thought it would be a good time for a round of mini golf. Nick was not prepared for the heckling (and some cheating) Mia would bring to the round of mini golf. Nick was intrigued with the boldness Mia brought to the first date. To this day, Mia and Nick still do not see eye to eye on who actually won. Although the score was tied, Mia had more hole-in-ones, thus most would say...Mia won! Mia and Nick ended the night with another drink and Nick was able to watch Illinois lead their way to victory, all without Mia noticing. Although the tale of who won the round of mini golf will always be up in the air, Mia and Nick realized they both won each other's hearts that night.
