Erica and Michael’s relationship started over a decade and a half ago during their time at Leland High School. While this is not your average high school sweetheart story, they were both aware of the other's presence in high school. We use the word “aware” very loosely as our paths did not cross much in high school, but we like to think the acknowledgement of each other's existence did set some very important subconscious seeds for later in life. The next step in this relationship would not occur until a few years later when Erica was a student at San Jose State and Michael was a student at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. Over a summer break, Michael and Erica would eventually cross paths again during a trip to the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. After several tall cans of Modelo and a ride on the infamous Giant Dipper, this love story commenced. Summer lovin’, happened so fast. Erica and Michael began their journey as boyfriend and girlfriend over the next decade. Erica was learning the ways of 7 hours of commercial free football and Michael was understanding the finer nuances of whatever the hell they put on Bravo. Both sides make the appropriate sacrifice that is required to make this relationship hum. After Erica and Michael spent time living together in Campbell, California, the path was clear now that they wanted to do this for the rest of their lives. Michael planned a 30th birthday party for Erica as a cover for his secret plans to propose to her. Family and friends were assembled at a villa in Paso Robles, CA and the plan was in motion. Michael was able to propose to Erica with his mother’s engagement ring in front of family and friends. It was a beautiful moment and Michael was successful in making the weekend now about him rather than Erica’s birthday. After a two year engagement (it appears the Maggipinto’s take their time with these matters), the time has finally come to celebrate Michael and Erica’s wedding in the beautiful hills of Grottaferrata, Italy.
