Walkway Over the Hudson is a steel cantilever bridge spanning the Hudson River between Poughkeepsie, New York, on the east bank and Highland, New York, on the west bank. Built as a double track railroad bridge, it was completed on January 1, 1889, and formed part of the Maybrook Railroad Line of the New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroad.
Beacon is well known for reclaimed industrial spaces, artistic endeavors and community vibes, making it a perfect launch-pad for our present and future. There’s the river, the mountain, Main Street and more, but you’ll find us out on the edge of town, turning an abandoned factory into a newly-vibrant campus. Our gigantic, modern building is matched by an epic, timeless view of the Hudson Highlands that you’ll just have to see to believe. We have indoor and weather-permitting outdoor seating, and a small bar-bites menu from our friends at Dolly’s. Outside food is welcome. Well-behaved, leashed pups are welcome outside on our brewdecks.
We are a locally owned, independent bookstore and café selling a wide range of new and used books and vinyl, as well as organic coffee drinks. Founded in 2003, Inquiring Minds has been a cornerstone of the Saugerties community. We strive to create a welcoming and accessible space for people of all ages, genders, class, and demographics.
