We found each other in the most unlikely place, at the most unlikely time. We weren’t aware of it yet, but this would be the best thing to happen to us. We both feel blessed and thankful to God for bringing us together. Eric and I met at work and sat one cubicle away from each other. We did not interact much in the beginning, other than a simple “Hello” or “Good Morning” here and there. At a Thanksgiving potluck hosted by work in 2014, we finally had the opportunity to venture into further dialogue. We had both had a few tacos too many, and didn’t have much room in our overstuffed bellies, but we were both eyeing the dessert bar. I asked, “Would you be willing to share a cannoli with me? I just don’t think I’ll be able to eat a whole one.” Without a moment’s hesitation, he answered “Sure.” That was the beginning of our journey together even though it took some time to get on the same road.
