How We Met

Middle School Sweethearts

We have known of each other since Kindergarten but 8th grade is when we became friends, and then a little more than friends. We had some classes together and eventually we started to talk and became a lot closer. We both realized we liked each other and would look forward to the classes we had together because that was the only time we had to talk while in school. Eventually Jake slid into the instagram DM's and we talked for hours, pretty much all the time and finally on March 2nd, 2016 we made it official.

The Proposal

3.4.2023

Leah's POV This was one of the best nights of my life, and I bet I'm going to tear up writing this story because it brings me so much joy. We were in NYC for the weekend celebrating our 7 year anniversary, it was our first night and I found a gluten free restaurant I wanted to try because its rare you come across those in MD. Little did I know this is where Jake was going to pop the question. We get to the restaurant, I'm taking all kinds of pictures sending them to my family and getting way too excited about the gluten free mozzarella sticks that were coming to the table. I had made a joke about him proposing even though the night before he completely threw me for a loop (little did I know). Once I finally stop talking and taking pictures Jake stands up and gets down on one knee in front of me. I immediately started crying because this was a moment I have been waiting for, for a very long time. Both of us blanked on what he said all I know is that he asked me to marry him and it was the easiest yes of my life. Everyone started clapping and congratulating us, the employees played the song "Marry You" by Bruno Mars and brought us champagne and I start asking Jake all sorts of questions because I had no idea that night, I would be engaged to my best friend in the entire world. Jake's POV The start of any proposal is the ring. Leah showed what style of ring she liked and gave me a few inspiration photos. With what she gave me I went to work. I had carefully picked out the diamond that I thought was beautiful along with a pretty setting and ring, that I knew Leah would love. I had a few ideas of how and where I wanted to pop the question, but, when Leah told me she wanted to go to New York City to celebrate our 7th year anniversary I changed my plan. I figured this would be a perfect time and a once in a lifetime opportunity. Because the trip was around the corner, I arranged to take Mr. Eddie out to lunch and ask his permission to marry his daughter. He said of course, it would be an honor. Onto the New York trip, I was unsure when I was going to do it, and once we made plans to have a nice anniversary dinner I knew this was the perfect time. I was a little nervous, but I knew this was the right decision. After we ordered Leah jokingly says “I guess you aren't proposing, I didn't feel a box in your pocket, unless it's just the ring that's in there” I lied and said no, but little did she know she was spot on. Right before our appetizer was coming out, I stood up and dropped down on one knee and asked my best friend if she would marry me. She started to cry and ask if I was serious and said yes. I slid the ring on, we hugged and kissed and shared this special moment just the two of us. The people in the restaurant clapped, and we got free champagne to celebrate this happy moment. The entire dinner we could not stop smiling.
