Trevor and I were always around each other as small kids because our parents were really good friends before we were even born. I always had the biggest crush on Trevor when I was a kid; he was five years older and so cute! But to Trevor I was the little red-headed kid that he wouldn't let ride in his go-kart and that he scared from trees on Halloween. If you would've told us back then we would get married, I would probably have turned red as a beat and Trevor would've screamed something along the lines of ew! Funny story though, his dad must have been on to something. Clark recalls Trevor not letting me ride in his go-kart and telling him that he better be nice to me, I might just be his girlfriend one day. Joke was on us, here we are getting married!
During the 2016 fire season I had Trevor on my mind often because I knew he was one of the firemen out there battling the numerous wildfires that year. I had never considered an actual relationship with Trevor because of our age difference, I just thought of him as my childhood crush, just grown up now. However, I finally got the nerve to send him one simple message, "hey", expecting nothing in return. Four days later, knowing I had humiliated myself still being little Leah in his eyes, I finally got a reply. I was shocked and didn't know what to do; afterall I didn't think I would ever hear anything from him. The next day I barely made it to our first date I was so nervous. Thanks mom for making me go! After that first date we were pretty much inseperable and here we are now. As Trevor says, he was nervous to go out with me the first time because he "was afraid he would end up here." Funny how fate works some times.
This was a day I knew was coming soon because we had talked about it but I was getting a little flustered because I was getting very impatient. Trevor knew this and loved to joke about it with me. Once or twice before he had faked me out thinking he was going to propose, which he thought was hilarious..me not so much! The night before he had been joking about it so it was a sensitive topic at the time. He had always told me he would never propose in front of any of our family so going to a pre Thanksgiving dinner with our families I thought here was another weekend shot without a proposal. When Trevor got down on one knee in front of me I was in such disbelief I almost smacked him thinking it was him joking again. However, I could hear the shakiness in his voice and knew he was serious this time. Our proposal was nothing too fancy but it was perfect, and it was us.
