We first met at the beginning of a summer internship at OneHope ministry in Pompano Beach, FL. It was move-in day (and her 20th birthday), and she had classicly overpacked for the two-month residency. He graciously saw the packed car from SC in the parking lot and offered to help her and her parents carry some items inside. Upon getting in the elevator together, her parents asked where he was from. After replying that he was from Houston, her dad jokingly told him that they just had a friend move there (Deshaun Watson had been drafted to the Houston Texans). He (not a sports guy) had no idea who he was talking about. Her dad frowned. She was embarrassed. The rest is history.

She had no idea that two weeks earlier, he had flown to her hometown to ask her dad for his blessing on their marriage. After a fun day in West Palm Beach of brunch, exploring, pottery making, and coffee, he went down on one knee at Morikami Museum and Gardens. She also had no idea that he had arranged for both of their out-of-town families and friends to show up for a surprise engagement party. We can't wait to celebrate with everyone!
