FAQs

ALL THE DEETS!
Question

When and where are the ceremony and reception taking place?

Answer

The ceremony will be held at Deep Run Recreation Center in Henrico, VA at 3:30 PM, followed by the reception at King’s Korner Banquet Hall at Chesterfield County Airport in North Chesterfield, VA. Cocktail hour will begin at 4:15 PM at King's Korner. Reception will begin at 5:30 PM. Both events are indoors and located on the lower levels of each building. Please allow time to travel between locations—we recommend arriving at the ceremony a little early to get settled.

Question

Where do I park? How do I find where I should be?

Answer

Ceremony at Deep Run Park: When you arrive at the park entrance, continue straight until you see the sign for the Recreation Center on your left and turn into the parking lot. Parking is available at the Recreation Center and throughout the park. Once inside, take the stairs straight ahead to the lower level—the ballroom will be on the right, just past the fireplace. An elevator is available in the hallway near the service desk for guests who need it. We recommend arriving 15–20 minutes early to allow time to park and get settled. Reception at Chesterfield County Airport: Guests are asked to park starting on the left side of the lot and fill in from left to right (when facing the building). Enter through the doors under the “Chesterfield County – Melvin W. Burnett Terminal Complex” sign. Once inside, go through the door immediately to your right and follow the stairs down to the banquet hall. Guests needing elevator access can contact Katie and Adam in advance to make arrangements.

Question

Will I need to take off my shoes for airport security?

Answer

Nope! The reception is in a private event space at a regional airport, so there is no enerting through TSA or needing a plane ticket to attend. Just follow the signs when you arrive. You can keep your dancing shoes on!

Question

What's the dress code for this flight?

Answer

FAA regulations now require pants for all passengers--so we kindly ask our guests to meet (and ideally exceed) that standard. (We acknowledge that Adam would be happiest in basketball shorts and a Marvel t-shirt, but even he concedes this occasion calls for a bit more pomp and circumstance.) We’re going for a first-class, polished vibe. Think dressy-casual outfits, like collared shirts with ties and summer dresses. No need for formal gowns or tuxes, but we’d love for everyone to look a step above everyday wear.

Question

Will a meal be served on this flight?

Answer

We’re celebrating in Virginia, so it only felt right to serve up a quintessential Southern feast! Our buffet will feature fried chicken, pulled pork, green beans (with pork), baked beans (with pork), coleslaw, macaroni and cheese, and hushpuppies. A selection of homemade BBQ sauces from King’s Korner will be available so you can mix, match, and find your favorite.

Question

How do drink tickets work?

Answer

Economy Class (All Guests) Unlimited iced tea, sweet tea, lemonade, and water Economy Plus Unlimited iced tea, sweet tea, lemonade, and water PLUS 2 drink tickets for sodas First Class (21+ Guests Only) Unlimited iced tea, sweet tea, lemonade, and water PLUS 2 drink tickets for alcoholic beverages (beer, wine, or liquor with one mixer) Additional Baggage Fees (aka Extra Drinks) Additional drink tickets will be available for purchase by guests at the event (cash only): • Sodas – Starting at $1.00 • Beer – Starting at $5.50 • Wine or liquor drinks – Starting at $6.50

Question

Will I need cash?

Answer

That depends on how thirsty you are! Additional drink tickets for the bar are cash only, so if you plan to purchase extra beverages, be sure to bring some *actual* dollars with you.

Question

WIFI and Phone Internet Access

Answer

For any parents or caregivers with communication needs, please understand that during the reception, there is generally no cell service in the lower level of the airport and WiFi is not available to all guests, per the policy of the site. If you have a communication need as a parent or caregiver, please let us know here, so we can arrange WiFi access for you during the event. All guests are welcome to exit the building to use cell phones at any time. However, please see the door policy in the next question for guidelines on door access.

Question

Airport Door Policy

Answer

Please note if you go outside to use your cell phone, smoke, or get some air, that after 9 PM, you will need to use the Buddy System and bring someone with you to let you back inside the building. The main doors are locked at 9 PM, so you will not be able to reenter without a man on the inside! (Propping the door open is not an option.)

Question

Where can I stay if I am coming from out of town?

Answer

If you need a recommendation for a place to stay, we suggest checking out an Air B&B or a VRBO option, as there are not many hotels that are centrally located to both the ceremony and reception sites that we’d recommend. We are happy to give feedback on any accommodations you find, to guide you on what that area is like and if it seems like a reasonable distance from the two sites.

Question

How do I request seating accommodations for needs of anyone in my guest party?

Answer

There is an option to identify any of these needs when you RSVP. If you have an infant, toddler, child, or just a whiny, cranky partner who will just want to go home, please let us know what type of seating and seating location proximity would be most helpful to ease the experience overall. (Booster seat, standard chair, space left open for high chair, seating nearest an exit, nearest the bathrooms, nearest to the runway so you can throw the whiner in front of an oncoming plane when they don’t stop whining; you get the idea.) If you don’t have any of the aforementioned folks in your party, please feel free to identify your willingness to accept other people’s infants, toddlers, children, or whiny, cranky partners, either temporarily or permanently, should their parents, caregivers, or partners need support to entertain their wee lil ones or whiny, cranky partners while they dance or go to the bathroom or just need to get away from that whining. We ask that you specify what cuteness to noisiness/whining ratio you are willing to consider. (This will help us match seating arrangements appropriately.) We will do our very best to accommodate all requests. If we cannot accommodate a specific request, we'll communicate that with you in case you want to make alternative arrangements or ship off your cranky, whiny partner to Abu Dhabi like Garfield with Nermal: bit.ly/4czOK9g
