Yes! You’ll need a pass AND a timed permit to enter the park. During the time we’re there is considered the “busy season” so you’ll need a timed entry permit to enter the park between the hours of 9am-2pm. If you want to do one of the more popular hikes, that requires a special permit including access to bear lake road, requiring a permit between the hours of 5am-6pm. They release the dates usually on the 1st of the corresponding month, so you sort of have to have things planned out as the permits are first come first serve and they sell out fast. The times are in two hour blocks. They also release some permits the night before at 5pm. This permit is only two dollars. If you have any questions ask me, I have it down pat! Additionally, you’ll need a pass to enter the park. I recommend getting the weekly pass for 35 dollars. Both the pass and the permit can be purchased through recreation.gov. I recommend downloading their app to purchase and it also saves the passes on your phone to easily show at the gate.
Probably not. The altitude is high and the air pressure is low making it harder to breathe. We recommend getting oxygen cans at any local gas station or store. They really help! Also stay hydrated!
Yes absolutely! The area is vast so having your own vehicle is ideal to be able to explore the area. Uber & Lyft is not common or cheap out there.
Yes! I got permission from the host to have a small get together after the wedding. We have a beautiful private chalet with a wrap around porch and stunning views of the Rockies! We just need ideas for food!
The weather is unpredictable in the Rockies. However, when it rains it usually only rains momentarily (fingers crossed). It is pretty windy during that time of the year so it will probably be a little chilly.
