Travel

Driving: If you have a car (or rent one), driving is often the most flexible and practical way. Lake Placid is in the Adirondacks, and many of the scenic routes are part of the experience. Public Transport: There is an Adirondack Trailways Bus that travels from NYC to Lake Placid, NY. It’s a direct bus and there are usually one or two departures daily. From: NYC Port Authority Bus Terminal (8th Ave & 42nd St) To: Lake Placid Main Street or Olympic Center stop Flying: For long-distance travelers, you can fly into a nearby airport and then use ground transportation. Saranac Lake has a small airport (SLK) that offers direct flights from JFK and Boston (~10 minute drive away). These are sample flights from NYC below: Option 1: NYC → Plattsburgh (PBG) (~1 hr flight), then drive 1.5 hrs to Lake Placid. Option 2: NYC → Albany (ALB) (~1 hr flight), then drive 2.5–3 hrs north. Option 3: NYC → Saranac Lake (SLK) (~1 hr flight), then 10 minute drive.
