Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Meredith Camp and Joshua Fischer

Historic Sites

Charleston is a living museum with over 300 years of stories to tell. If you’re looking to dive into the past, here are a few of our favorites. Fort Sumter: Take a ferry out to the harbor to see where the first shots of the Civil War were fired. Patriots Point & USS Yorktown: Explore a massive WWII aircraft carrier and the Maritime Museum just across the bridge in Mount Pleasant. The Charleston Museum: Founded in 1773, it is proudly known as "America’s First Museum." The Old Exchange & Provost Dungeon: One of only a few colonial buildings where the Constitution was ratified. Historic House Museums: Visit the Nathaniel Russell House or Aiken-Rhett House to see beautifully preserved 19th-century architecture.

Architecture & Iconic Sights

If you’re looking to take in our world-renowned architecture and tick off the city's most famous landmarks, we recommend a stroll through the heart of the historic district. Start by walking along King Street to enjoy some of the best shopping and dining in the South, then make your way toward the French Quarter to see the cobblestone charm of East Bay Street. No trip to Charleston is complete without viewing Rainbow Row, the iconic series of thirteen colorful historic houses. For a bit of local flavor, check out Marion Square, which hosts a vibrant Farmers Market every Saturday morning. If you need a peaceful escape, Hampton Park offers sprawling floral displays and ancient oaks, while The Battery provides a scenic promenade along the harbor with incredible views of Fort Sumter and the city's grandest antebellum mansions.

Beaches

There is certainly no shortage of sand and surf here, as Charleston boasts three distinct beach areas each with its own unique vibe. Isle of Palms is a beautiful, family-oriented retreat filled with stunning beach homes that are perfect for daydreaming during a long walk. For a mix of charm and history, Sullivan’s Island is a must-visit; it’s a quaint beach town where you just might spot a celebrity dining along the local restaurant strip. If you spend the day there, we highly recommend grabbing lunch or dinner at The Obstinate Daughter. Finally, Folly Beach offers a more eclectic, bohemian atmosphere with plenty of lively beach bars and surf shops to explore. Don’t forget that we will be hosting a group beach day at Folly on the Saturday following the wedding—we’d love for you to join us!
