Lady Bird Lake Hike and Bike Trail
10 miles of trails border Lady Bird Lake in the heart of Austin. Hop on and off for a scenic stroll or jog.
South Congress Avenue
South Congress, or SoCo, is iconic Austin. Some of our favorite spots: Allen's Boots, Tecovas, Maufrais, South Congress Hotel, Joe's Coffee, Joann's Fine Foods, and Perla's.

Boating on Lake Austin
In Austin, boating season is year round! Reserve a pontoon for a cruise around Lake Austin, and enjoy some house spotting, hit up party cove, take a swim, or go tubing. Some boat rental companies that we've used and liked in the past are Austin Rental Boats and Float On, but there are lots of options and you really can't go wrong.
Texas Capitol
The capitol, one of the largest in the nation, has great free tours daily.
Barton Springs Municipal Pool
A public pool like no other! A refreshing dip in Barton Springs (a 3-acre spring-fed pool in the heart of the city) is an Austin rite of passage.
Perla's
A great seafood spot to see and be seen on South Congress. Good for brunch, lunch, dinner.
Veracruz All Natural
The best breakfast tacos in town, with a new convenient downtown location at The Line Hotel. Pro tip - order ahead online to avoid the line. Mere's pick is the Migas Poblanas.
la Barbecue
La Barbeque has brisket that we think is just as good as (the more famous) Franklin's - except without the 5 hour line!
Suerte
Fabulous modern Mexican on a lively block in East Austin. Reservations recommended.
Whisler's
Next door to Suerte, Whisler's is a great cocktail bar with a lively outdoor yard and a secret mezcal bar. We came here on our first trip to Austin and have loved it ever since.
Launderette
American shared plates in a converted laundromat - a classic Austin neighborhood vibe. Delicious for dinner and brunch. Reservations recommended.
Better Half Coffee & Cocktails
A lovely all day cafe with lots of outdoor seating -- perfect for brunch, dinner, or in between! Eshaan's favorite is the spicy chicken sandwich.
Loro
What happens when Austin's top sushi and bbq places (Uchi and Franklin's) have a baby...magic! Great for groups.
