While both working at John Hancock, our paths first crossed in June 2013 during a "meet and greet" at the Whiskey Priest in Boston's Seaport. Dan came up to Meredith and introduced himself, in love with her red dress, and the next morning Meredith couldn't help but think about "that guy" with stunning blue eyes. It wasn't until mid August that our paths crossed again at Tia's and love sparked. Meredith was at Tia's meeting her new roommate and Dan had caught wind she was going to be there. By the end of the night, we were leaving together and Dan asked Meredith on their first date. We officially had our first date on August 20, 2013 at Clery's in the Back Bay... and the rest is history.
We were up at our house, The Mountaincomber in Peru, VT for the weekend. That Saturday morning, a whiteout was ensuing and Dan had a work call that lasted until lunchtime. Meredith suggested staying home to not risk the roads but Dan wanted to get a few ski runs in and grab lunch at Grizzly's, the lodge at the base of Stratton. After taking >1 hour to drive the usually 20 minute drive, Dan suggested taking the gondola to the summit to "take a picture by the Bear." Dan is not one to often initiate a photo op, which tipped Meredith off that he was "up to something". At the summit, Dan threw down our skis and grabbed a man hiking to the Fire Tower. As Dan was giving him his cell phone, he said "take a lot of pictures, I'm getting down on one knee" to which the man exclaimed "what?!". Dan got down on one knee in front of the Bear and simply said, "Will you marry me?". Meredith instantly said "YES" even before Dan had the ring box out of his pocket. We skied a couple of runs, enjoying our proposal high before skiing down to Grizzly's and celebrating with our favorite bartenders, Steve & Dawn, and of course a few strangers. The whole proposal was perfect and we spent the evening cooking together, making a fire and sipping champagne while calling family and friends. We're so excited to celebrate this next chapter in our lives with you. See you in Bermuda!
