How can I get to Martha's Vineyard from the Boston area?

Answer

For people who live within reasonable driving distance of the Steamship Authority ferry terminal in Woods Hole, we recommend driving to and parking in one of the general ferry parking lots, then taking the complementary shuttle from the parking lot to the ferry. You can also reserve a space for your car on the ferry and drive directly onto the ferry. How can I get to Martha’s Vineyard from New York or Connecticut?

Answer

We recommend looking into flights from NYC to Martha’s Vineyard as they tend to be reasonably priced. You can also drive to the New Bedford ferry in MA which is a bit closer to CT/NY than the Steamship Authority ferry. This ferry doesn’t allow cars, but there’s a parking lot close by with a complementary shuttle that takes you right to the ferry. We recommend booking soon as it fills up quickly! How can I get to Martha's Vineyard if I live too far away to drive to a ferry?

Answer

If coming from somewhere too far to drive to the ferry in Woods Hole or New Bedford, you can fly directly to the island, or fly to Boston and either take the Peter Pan bus from Boston Logan airport to Woods Hole or rent a car at the airport and drive it to Woods Hole. It will leave from the ferry terminal on your way home shortly after your ferry gets in. Can I rent a car on Martha's Vineyard?

Yes! Renting a car is a great way to get around the island during your free time there. Please note that there will be no parking available at the venue on Saturday, so please don't drive there. We'll have shuttles taking everyone from the church to the venue and you can call Uber/Lyft or a taxi home! If you'd like to rent a car, Hertz is on the island, with pickup locations in Vineyard Haven and the Airport. Their inventory is quite limited, though, so we recommend booking the car rentals ASAP if you plan to do so.
