Our Story...

The Flood Gates Opened

Our story started long before we knew it, 13 years ago in 2007 while they were both in high school (we didn't have much to say to one another at that time). Then in 2017 (just 2.5 years ago) a catastrophe struck in the form of bursted pipes at the barn. Flooded in water and dogs swimming to my side I phoned a friend for HELP. Instead of my friend it was Ray who came to my (and the puppies) rescue. Rushing into what has now turned into a comical scene on his noble white steed... or maybe it was a pickup truck, I don't know either way he was there . As soon as Ray saw Meredith (as he says) "my heart skipped a beat". In that moment neither of us were aware he was about to sweep me off of my feet, and I was about to steal his heart. In that one moment, which seemed to last forever, we both got our real life happily ever after.

The PROPOSAL

It's a family affair

Meredith was preparing for a casual backyard barbecue at her family home when Ray called insisting she put on a "nice dress instead of her usual lululemon". That was the first clue. Meredith being Meredith, didn't think too much of it and complied. As they pulled up the drive way at her Dad's house Meredith noticed her friend's car in the driveway. That was clue number two. Then Meredith noticed other cars in the drive way which were definitely not her dad's (meaning all the cars manufactured after 1975). Knowing Jay (Meredith's dad) there are always additional friends at every BBQ.. so Meredith being Meredith with 2 clues under her belt didn't think anything of this. Ray (starting to get nervous) felt like an explanation was owed to Meredith for this grouping of cars. "Mere" he said, "Your dad wanted to invite my family and some friends last minute to make it a more family fun BBQ". Ray kept his cool, even though he had been planning this for weeks and called everyone 10 days in advance and everyday until the proposal day ensuring their presence. As they walked into Jay's house they greeted the dogs first (of course) then said hello to all the guests. Meredith told her dad how thoughtful the BBQ was and how grateful she was for having Ray's family there. Meredith went in the house to get a drink and came out to Ray giving the start of a toast. Then in the middle of his toast Ray started to get awkward and this was turning into a very nervous speech. Meredith looking at him like "WHAT IS HAPPENING"... noticed Ray coming closer to her and then got down on one knee. Meredith with a completely shocked look on her face let out an audible "What is going on ??" and Ray said "Meredith, I love you will you marry me??"... Taking a deep breath and composing herself into the present moment Meredith let out an outstanding "YES" And the rest is history.
