Daniel and Haley grew up 1,937 miles from each other in Wheaton, IL and Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Born in different countries, it was extremely unlikely that they would ever meet. After Daniel graduated from high school, he became involved in Youth with a Mission (YWAM) in the Dominican Republic. He completed a missionary training program, volunteered with missionaries, and became a translator. After some time, he decided to volunteer in Hawaii, where all these missionaries had been based. All the while, Haley was graduating from Wheaton College, and Haley's best friend, Jiahn, suggested they go to Hawaii after graduation to spend a summer volunteering for YWAM. Sparks flew when Haley and Daniel first met in the Pacific Ocean when Haley was completed wiped out by a wave. After 3 weeks of knowing one other, Daniel and Haley officially became boyfriend and girlfriend. And exactly 1 year 1 month and 19 days after becoming official, Daniel asked Haley to marry her! She said yes!
