How we met

Matthew & Mercedies both attended Lewis Clark State-College starting in the Fall of 2013, but it wasn’t until the Fall of 2015 when their paths finally crossed. That is where their love story began. It was just like many other stories, where sheer luck played a role. While we were both attending Lewis Clark-State College, we met at Parrish House Dorm. This dorm was for upperclassman only, but someone dropped out last minute and Mercedies took advantage of the opportunity to live on campus. This decision changed their lives. Matt was the comfortable leader of the Parrish Dorm, and this kind of stability was what she needed. On the flip side, Matt needed someone to inject fun into his life. Even though they were focusing on different studies, they worked on school work together to stay motived. They found themselves spending a lot of time outside of class together. Maybe it was all the late-night talks, cooking up delicious food, or the night they spent watching the lunar eclipse, but they soon fell in love. Two completely different people with completely different backgrounds finding love in an old, most defiantly haunted, former nunnery. This relationship has been tested with leaps of faith for both parties. Over the past three years we have had the chance to experience living in three different states, taking full advantage of all the natural beauty of Idaho, Montana and now Virginia, while also enjoying the cultural differences between the states. Last, but not least, we also adopted a new puppy named Lucy. We’ve learned a lot over the last three years, but we realize we still have much to learn in life, love, and relationships. We are also very excited to join our two family and hope you can join us in. Please, don’t forget to RSVP.

The Proposal

Matthew and Mercedies have spent three and a half years together traveling the US pursuing Matthews dreams and goals in baseball. The time has flown by these last few years. Even then sometimes it felt like marriage for them was out of reach. Mercedies used to jokingly tell Matthew if he waited more than three years then she would leave. He may not have been able to give her a ring, but he had gifted her the opportunity to experience adventure in return. As the day marking the three years had arrived Matthew had grown nervous and excited. Unbenonced to Mercedies when she would open her eyes for the first time that morning there he would be. With breakfast at the bed side and ring in hand, Matthew knelt and asked “Mercedies, will you marry me?”
