St. Mary's will ferry you to the beautiful island of Cumberland. Filled with wild horses, history, and lots of sand Cumberland is known for attracting many visitors to its beautiful sites.
For history lovers, a 19th century sugar mill ruin is not your average run of the mill. Built after the War of 1812, its unique tabby concrete is very convenient for many walks around and through the ruins while providing shade. Many photography and nature lovers adore the spot and during special events such as homecoming and prom, it is a local hot spot for formal pictures.
Open 24 hours, St. Mary's Waterfront is perfect for a quick stroll or a long photoshoot. The calming atmosphere is due to the lure of the ocean with docks you can walk on. Some docks allow you to touch the water but it is recommended to not go swimming. There is a play area to take children of all ages, benches to eat at, as well as swings facing the ocean to admire the view. The Waterfront is a local favorite hangout spot and event area with a stage for concerts, and a gazebo to have a better view of the park.
