They danced the night away at Her Name is Carmen, and like the gentleman he is, Maciej walked her home. But as they strolled through wall street, Mercedes' alarm went off—she had completely forgotten about her flight to Cuba in just a few hours to visit her dad! Mercedes, lost in the clouds and pulling a last-minute mission? Never. 😉 So there was Maciej, helping her frantically pack for an international trip. Talk about diving headfirst into the beautiful chaos that would define their entire relationship! The One Where They Actually Go An A Date: When the real first date finally happened, Mercedes showed up to a speakeasy with an entire astrology book to see if the stars aligned. Very Miami girl energy. Maciej? Instantly intrigued. But the true spark came during their winter adventure at Pier 17 (still under construction at the time). Under the moonlight, they explored what would become Seaport, rode Citi Bikes in freezing temps (the exact moment Maciej knew he was hooked), and shared veggie burgers while talking until sunrise. The One With The V-day Plot Twist: Their second / third date was Valentine's Day 2020. Maciej, constantly traveling to San Francisco for his consulting work, asked Mercedes out the day before (staying true to his last-minute brand!) with the most adorable arrangement of McKinsey office snacks. Mercedes was completely charmed. When he suggested a romantic dinner at Pier 17, she surprised him with a hard no—she had something better in mind. A Valentine's Day rollerblade-themed event. The One Where They Get Engaged: Five years later, Maciej brought Mercedes back to that exact spot at Pier 17— 3 days before they move to Brownsville Texas —and got down on one knee to propose.
